Short answer: as of September 19, 2026, there is no verified tier list for the global version.

The client is not live until October 5, and the developers are still making large class and balance changes. Any “global T0 ranking” right now is Korea and Taiwan data wearing a new label.

What each class is best at is stable, though, and that is enough to decide with. Below is the role-by-role version, without invented ranks.

Why there is no verified ranking yet

Both creators who have played the Korea and Taiwan service for months opened with the same caveat.

Grobs put it plainly: nobody knows what the meta will look like in our version, the developers are still making major class and balance changes non-stop, and “a lot of things might still change.” So do not pick by whoever looks strongest right now.

CrusherXGaming supplied the other half: every class is locked to one main weapon, and alt characters are expensive on purpose. His framing is that “your first pick basically is your account.”

Together those two facts leave one workable method: pick the playstyle, not a borrowed ranking.

Numbers that will move are left out of this page. What follows is role identity, which changes far less often.

What each launch class is strongest at

ClassMain weaponStrongest atWhat it costs you
GladiatorTwo-handed greatswordForgiveness through lifesteal. AoE, crowd control, and enough damage to hit hard while tankingLess mitigation than Templar, so raid progression is less stable early
TemplarLongsword and shieldHolding threat and protecting the group, including redirecting damage off teammatesSlow solo clearing. Burst is not the selling point
AssassinDaggerBurst inside short windows, plus mobility and stealth. Best at deciding small fights in one goSquishiest class. Damage depends on attacking from behind, and mistakes are fatal
RangerBowDamage while moving, from almost any position. The strongest open-world farmer earlyOnce a melee class closes the gap, the same kit turns into a liability
SorcererSpellbookSpells that reduce each other’s cooldowns into one long chain. Highest burst if the chain landsThinnest defences. Feels slow until skills and gear are levelled
SpiritmasterOrbSummons absorb the pressure. Strongest sustained damage in long fights and the best solo classHighest mental load. When the summons drop, damage collapses
ClericMace and shieldThe only class with a full healing toolkit and a resurrection. Every group wants oneMost responsibility. Weak crowd control in 1v1
ChanterStaffParty buffs, shields and healing in one, with a real melee combo on topCannot match Cleric’s single-target healing. Raid progression is harder

The role identities come from a class-by-class gameplay breakdown recorded on the test client (Grobs, 18 minutes, all eight classes). The “best solo class” and “most wanted in groups” calls were independently confirmed by a second creator.

The four questions people actually ask

Which class is best for solo play? The common answer is Spiritmaster. Your summons take the damage while you stack damage over time, so you rarely stop to recover. That makes open-world clearing the least effortful.

Which class is easiest to play? Ranger and Gladiator. Ranger does not care about position and its skills are straightforward. Gladiator heals through the damage it deals, which turns a bad pull into a survivable one.

The hardest to start with are usually Sorcerer and Assassin: one has the thinnest defences, the other depends on attacking from behind and on timing.

Gladiator or Templar for PvP? Different jobs. Templar is a pure tank: crowd control and durability, hard to kill. Gladiator is a bruiser: lifesteal, crowd control and damage, strong in both small and large fights. Pick Templar for raw durability, Gladiator for overall threat.

Does AION 2 have a healer class? Two. Cleric is the dedicated healer and the only class that resurrects. Chanter is healing plus group buffs, with the highest group value and weaker single-target healing. Note that Cleric and Chanter damage buffs do not fully stack and can override each other.

One-line picks by what you want

This table is one creator’s summary. It is his judgement, not an in-game ranking, and it is here as a way to work backwards from a need.

Four steps to pick a main

One: choose the role first. Ask whether you want to tank at the front, burst in melee, deal ranged damage, heal, or support. The eight classes cover exactly those jobs. Skip this step and a ranking will decide for you.

Two: eliminate by weapon. One weapon per class. If you know you do not want a shield or a dagger, several classes are gone immediately.

Three: shortlist two or three and test them in one dungeon. A dungeon exposes something mob grinding does not: whether you actually enjoy the amount of work the class asks for.

Four: decide how much responsibility you want to carry. A Cleric carries the group’s lives. A Spiritmaster tracks summons, debuffs and its own position at once. A Templar reads boss patterns. That is not a power question, it is a question of what you can keep doing for months.

One practical note: there is no one-click save for appearance sliders, and launch day is the worst time to lose an hour in the creator. Screenshot your sliders first. The rest of the pre-launch checklist is in the beginner guide.

Boundaries: what is still unknown

  • Global numbers and balance. NC has published no class balance notes for the launch build, and the developers are still changing things. This page carries no coefficients, no skill priorities and no rotation tables.
  • The ninth class, Brawler. It arrived with Chapter 1 in Korea and Taiwan and is not on the global launch roster. The details are on the Brawler page.
  • Full skill lists. Those belong to each class page and to creator guides. This page covers identity and selection only.

For the weapons, Korean names and the one-weapon rule, see all eight classes. For the spending mistakes people regret in week one, see the beginner guide.

The class breakdown in video form

Kanon’s AION 2 ULTIMATE CLASS GUIDE (BREAKDOWN & RANKINGS) walks all eight launch classes and prints one-minute dummy parses from the Korea and Taiwan build.

It is worth watching for the playstyle descriptions. Treat the numbers as a snapshot, not a global tier list, and note the correction pinned in the comments: melee classes have the lower floors, ranged classes the higher ones.
