AION 2 Cleric: Keep the Boss Debuffed, Then Heal
Cleric is the mace-and-shield healer that spends most of a fight on debuffs and damage. Global season 1 allows only four stigma skills at once.

Cleric is the healer, and its first job is not healing. It uses a mace and shield, debuffs the boss, and treats healing as the thing you do when something goes wrong.
That surprises people coming from other MMOs, so it is worth the space.
What Cleric is
The official Korean class guide lists eight classes, and Cleric (치유성) is one of them. Its main weapon is a mace and shield. Both factions can play it.
Despite the shield, it is a ranged magic class. You stand back, keep debuffs running and deal damage while supporting the party.
Why debuffs come before heals
A player with six to eight months on the Taiwan launch service explains the logic plainly: on a group that knows the fight, you spend about 90% of your time debuffing and dealing damage.
The reason is mechanical. Minor mistakes can be healed or cleansed. Big mechanics cannot. If someone fails a major mechanic, healing does not save them, and the group either resurrects them or they burn a resurrection stone.
So the priority is to keep the boss at its worst.
- Debilitating Mark lowers the target’s damage bonus and defence.
- Chains of Torment lowers its damage tolerance.
- Earth’s Punishment makes your main attack crit, and adds double-attack, defence and damage for the party.
Experienced players key all three onto one mouse button so the coverage never breaks.
The damage loop
Your damage comes from one skill, and it is worth understanding why.
- Condemnation resets its cooldown on a critical hit. With Earth’s Punishment guaranteeing crits, you can push it very close to 100% uptime.
- It supplies more than half of your total damage.
- Bolt is the second skill. Its 30-second cooldown drops to about nine seconds, because the third hit of your basic attack, Discharge, cuts seven seconds off it.
With debuffs up and cooldowns managed, you are holding two mouse buttons and refreshing what falls off.
The support kit
Cleric covers everything a group expects, plus one thing it cannot do without.
- Light of Protection is the group mitigation buff. It does not stack with Chanter’s Undefeated Mantra, and the Chanter version takes precedence.
- Salvation is the emergency save, for you or a teammate.
- Radiant Recovery is the direct heal. Two casts, a debuff removal and a short nine-second base cooldown.
- Benevolence and Light of Regeneration add passive regeneration.
- The battle resurrection is why groups keep you around.
Every heal is a 40-metre AoE. You never target a party member to heal them.
Global season 1 changes the build
This is the one place where copying an Asian-server build will hurt you.
On the Taiwan service, players can equip six stigma skills. Global season 1 allows four. Creator builds for launch therefore pick four and leave two behind.
Those four are usually:
- Light of Protection for group damage and tolerance.
- Resurrection, for obvious reasons.
- Earth’s Punishment, because it feeds Condemnation.
- Noble Aura for steady damage, with Prayer of Amplification as a swap.
If healing is overwhelming you, the fourth slot can become Absolution or Benevolence.
Beyond stigmas, push Healing Light to level 16 early so you always have a spammable heal. Put cleanse on Radiant Recovery and movement speed on Light of Regeneration.
For passives, three matter: Empyrean Lord’s Grace (crit plus damage every second), Earth’s Grace (crit damage) and Healing Enhancement (heal scaling). For stats, stack attack, crit and double attack, keep enough accuracy for the tier, and collect cooldown reduction where you can.
How it performs
Cleric has the highest healing output and the lowest damage of the eight classes. That sentence is less of a limitation than it sounds, because even the healer out-damages a typical dedicated healer elsewhere.
Hard content still wants a Cleric first. In endgame runs where the group already beats the dungeon, a Chanter’s extra damage can be the better trade.
Who should play it
Pick Cleric if you want the class every group needs, and you are happy to spend most of a fight attacking rather than watching health bars.
Skip it if you want to top a damage meter, or if you dislike bait-and-switch descriptions. The class really is a ranged damage dealer with a heal button.
The Chanter page covers the other support, and the class list lays out all eight.
